RELATED: Unpopular Reddit Opinions About The Sims Games
Of course, they don’t always agree with each other. From time to time, people come up with opinions that largely differ from what the majority of players think about the game. Their opinions are often among the most challenging ones, but can make others think if they’re open to it. Reddit, in particular, is full of less popular The Witcher 3 opinions that challenge the players’ views of the game.
8 Taking The Easy Road
Some fans applaud The Witcher 3 for its originality, but not all. gravel89 thinks that: “The games often take an easy road by directly ripping off from Sapkowski’s plotlines.” CurrryKing agrees and adds: “You can definitely see this in Blood and Wine because Syanna is basically a carbon copy of Renfri in the short story.”
To be fair to the game, it doesn’t hide the fact that it draws heavy inspiration from the book series. For example, in Syanna’s case, Geralt even mentions Renfri when he learns more about Syanna’s presumed curse of the Black Sun. If the game wanted to keep its inspiration source a secret, it never would have mentioned Renfri in the first place.
7 No Hate For Yennefer Or Triss
The general consensus among fans is that players typically prefer either Yennefer or Triss. meckinitrain has a different opinion: “You can like Yen and/or Triss without bashing the other. They’re both bada** and awesome.”
While it’s true that both sorceresses have many positive character traits, the game itself pits the two against each other and makes the players clearly state whom they prefer. If the player likes both Yennefer and Triss and has Geralt romance them both, the sorceresses will learn this, trick Geralt, and leave him. So in this case, a choice is necessary — unless Geralt decides to reject both women and remains single. Of course, outside the game, there’s no need to hate on the character the player didn’t pick.
6 Olgierd Deserves To Die
The main dilemma in Hearts of Stone is whether to help Olgierd von Everec or not. Most players decide to save Olgierd from Gaunter O’Dimm but chaosgodloki has a different opinion: “I think Olgierd is a d*** and deserved what was coming to him. tbh I’m on Gaunter’s side of the conflict, and I would have let him kill Olgierd but I wanted to get the “good” ending and Olgierd’s sword. Vlodimir is so much cooler.”

While it’s true that Olgierd has done a lot of bad things, he still has a chance to become a better person. If Geralt saves Olgierd, their last conversation suggests Olgierd is ready to turn things around. To let Gaunter O’Dimm take Olgierd’s soul basically takes away the only chance Olgierd has at redemption.
5 No Triss Romance
Triss Merigold has many fans, but The4thWiggle doesn’t like her in the slightest: “Triss never should’ve been a romance option in The Witcher 3. With his memories restored Geralt might use her for assistance but would definitely feel pretty repulsed by her. Especially after she took advantage of him in Witcher 2 because she’s jealous of Yen. If you read the books you understand.”
Though there are some valid points here, one could argue that Triss deserves her shot at redemption, the chance to prove she grew as a person. In the game, Triss risks her life to help her fellow mages and lets herself be tortured to help Geralt find Ciri. She grows more selfless, and by giving Geralt the chance to have a relationship with Triss, it also means he can appreciate the new person Triss has become.
4 Dijkstra Rules
Vernon Roche is one of the most popular side characters of the games. This isn’t the case for JonSnow31391, who thinks that: “Vernon Roche is an idiot and side with Dijkstra every time.”
For most players, it’s difficult to overlook that Vernon Roche is not only a better friend to Geralt, but also has better morals. Dijkstra is willing to kill Geralt in the end and he underestimates the Witcher by thinking Geralt will just ignore Dijkstra killing his close friends, Roche, Thaler, and Ves.
3 Gwent Is Bad
Playing Gwent in The Witcher 3 is a favorite pastime, but not everybody warmed up to the card game. Lamar Scrodum stated that: “I have absolutely zero interest in Gwent. I’m grateful they didn’t force it on me though.”

It’s true that Gwent simply isn’t interesting for everyone. However, by ignoring it, the players rob themselves of the opportunity to finish several intriguing quests in both the main game and in the DLCs. Those who want to get the full experience the game offers should try playing Gwent at least during one of their playthroughs.
2 Dijkstra Deserved Better
Geralt has a complicated relationship with his old enemy Dijkstra, but this user, whose account has since been deleted, thinks that Geralt still didn’t treat Dijkstra the way he deserves. As they put it: “Telling someone to step aside does NOT mean pushing them down breaking their leg. That messed up my first playthrough.”
The best way to avoid this unpleasant scenario is to simply choose the other dialogue option and work with Dijkstra instead. That way, Dijkstra lets Philippa Eilhart leave in peace, and everybody remains safe.
1 The Leveling System Doesn’t Work
As the game progresses, the player has the option to level up and, as such, fight better and stronger enemies. booljayj, however, thinks this system doesn’t work: “The leveling system needs to be removed completely. It cuts off the player’s ability to explore in the early game, and it makes many fights completely trivial in the late game. It also clashes with the theme of the game and the world.”
One could argue that removing the leveling system would make the game too difficult. The way to fix its negative impact the player’s ability to explore would be to change the level of non-quest-related enemies that Geralt comes across in the wild. This way, the quests would still have a recommended level Geralt would have to reach. At the same time, though, the player would be free to explore the open world.
